"In addition to the musicians, I really want to say a special thanks to all the media and supporters in Atlanta that came together for this event and helped spread the word about Deborah and ALS especially: AirTran Airways, The Variety Playhouse, Dr. Jonathan Glass and the Emory ALS Center, 11 Alive, FOX 5 Atlanta, WSB Radio, The Grape WCLK, The Georgian Terrace Hotel and The AJC."
Listeners "Molded Internet Radio" Smoothjazztampabay.com founder/PD Richard Rigg weighs in concerning Internet radio station rankings on iTunes in response to news published here recently of Blake Lawrence's www.chilltrax.com launch and subsequent explosion online: "iTunes does wonders for listeners, but Internet listeners are finicky. When there are over 100,000 Internet stations around the world in the same market, it's hard to stay on top, or even close," Rigg says. "iTunes also tells you in their terms of service that they can drop you at any time from their directory for any reason. They even tell you in the T.O.S. that lost revenue and listeners are not their problem. It's a double edged sword, so don't rely on iTunes to build your listener base, you could get burned by Steve Jobs. I've been at this for seven years on the Net and traditional radio wisdom is out the window. I tell Al Santana every day that a stale rotation of the same songs over and over will get you off the listener list and then off iTunes very quickly. What you will find when you are newly listed on iTunes is an initial increase of simply curiosity, and if you deliver the goods your listeners will climb from there, but if you are dropping off the leader board, then you have to take a good hard look at what you are doing. "Your weekly article is dedicated to traditional terrestrial radio broadcasting, not the Internet broadcaster. Here, the listener has molded Internet radio and not the other way around; hence, the reason for the demise of Smooth Jazz radio on the terrestrial level."
